Rocket League Developer Cancels Live Championship Event Due to Coronavirus Fears

On 5 March, Rocket League's developer Psyonix announced that they were cancelling their Rocket League Season 9 World Championship live event, which was scheduled from 24–26 April in Dallas, Texas, due to cororonavirus concerns.

According to the offical Psyonix announcement, the event was cancelled [d]ue to worldwide health concerns surrounding the developing situation around the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and that [a]t Psyonix, we take the safety of our competitive players, fans, and personnel very seriously.

They are currently evaluating all possible choices to replace World Championship Play, but the Reigonal Championship and promotional tournament will continue as usual for the rest of the Season 9 Championship Series.

Those who bought tickets from the ETIX website will have a refund granted automatically to them, including additional fees and parking passes. Those who do not recieve a refund automatically by 11 March should contact ETIX support for help.

They will also be working with their partners in South America and Oceania to ensure the health and safety of players and personnel there.
