Nvidia Raytracing Arrives in Minecraft

Raytracing using Nvidia's RTX graphics cards arrived in Minecraft , available for Bedrock edition on Windows 10.

Minecraft with RTX brings fully path-traced rendering [and] physically-based materials" to the game, says Nvidia, and is capable of delivering bleeding-edge visual fidelity and realism.

Some of the featured raytracing offers include global illumination [that] realistically lights the world, [...] illuminated blocks and other light sources [that] cast pixel-perfect lighting; [and] reflections [that] are seen on all reflective surfaces and blocks, says Nvidia.

This feature is only available on the Bedrock version on Windows 10, not the Java Edition, and is accessed through the Xbox Insider program like normal beta development builds.

Nvidia has helped put together a set of six Minecraft worlds to showcase raytracing technology, and these worlds are available for download on the Bedrock edition Marketplace; watch the video below to get a sense of how raytracing can change your Minecraft worlds:
