This week's development snapshot for the upcoming Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update: Part One has been released by developer Mojang.

Snapshot 21w16a adds a few new features, changing stalagnates and azalea bushes.

A stalagmite that have a stalagtite above it dripping water down onto will now very slowly grow taller. This process is extremely slow, taking many in-game days, mimicking the slow growth of stalagmites in real life.

Another new feature in this snapshot is the ability to grow azalea bushes into trees using the bone meal fertaliser.

This snapshot also includes a few tweaks, such as the texture of raw mineral blocks and items being changed.

Caves & Cliffs: Part One is set to be released in the middle of this year, with Part Two coming near the end of 2021.

The first Bedrock Edition beta version for 1.17 was released alongside this snapshot.
