The dates for next year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) have been announced, with the event set to be reimagined in 2021.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which runs E3, notified event partners that E3 2021 will be taking place on 15–17 June.

E3 2020, which was set to take place on 9–11 June in Los Angeles, was cancelled a month ago because of the effects coronavirus may have had on the event.

In the ESA's statement announcing the cancellation of E3 2020, they said that they were exploring options with our members to coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020, however there have not been any further updates on this.

Meanwhile, IGN has announced that they will be holding a "Summer of Gaming" event to be held in June. IGN will be collaborating with a number of partners for the Summer of Gaming, including 2K, Square Enix, SEGA, Bandai Namco, Amazon, Google Stadia, Twitter, Devolver Digital, THQ Nordic, and more, they say.

The Summer of Gaming event will feature presentations by many publishers, interviews with developers, demos for upcoming games, and new announcements.
